Marullah Inducts 186 Functional Teacher Officials

City Secretary, Marullah Matali, inaugurated and swore in 186 functional teacher officials under the Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik). The inauguration took place at Grha Ali Sadikin, Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday (12/5).

Those appointed consisted of 115 teachers of elementary school (SD), 37 teachers of middle school (SMP), 31 teachers of high school (SMA), two teachers of vocational school (SMK), and one teacher of kindergarten (TK).
He hoped that they could run their duties with high professionalism and dedication to advance education in Jakarta. "Today, you get a great gift in the form of a functional position. This is a gift and blessing from God. Many people out there want this position, but not all get it. Do not take this position lightly," he expressed.

Teacher is a very noble profession. The knowledge taught to others will become a continuous charity that continues to flow even after we die. On that occasion, he also urged them to maintain the honor, dignity, and good name of the profession.
"Be a respected teacher, have ethics, morals, and good manners. Teachers are role models for their students. Give the best example, maintain the good name of Jakarta, the teacher corps, and the world of education," he asserted.
He once again urged them to love and educate their students with great affection.
“Consider your students as your children. If you give punishment, do it with love. Because in essence, they are part of your responsibility,” he explained.
He added the role of teachers is very important in realizing the vision of Jakarta as a global city. Moreover, Jakarta will be five centuries old. Hopefully, this inauguration would be a significant step in strengthening the quality of education in Jakarta and teachers would contribute positively to building a competitive education system.
"Jakarta, which is this old, maintain its good name, you have the pride of being a teacher in Jakarta. You have an important role in producing the next generation who will make Jakarta a superior and competitive global city," he closed.
